Liceo B. Rescigno, Roccapiemonte, Italy

Liceo B. Rescigno is an upper secondary school located in Roccapiemonte, in the province of Salerno, Italy. The school offers seven upper secondary curricula, “Environmental science”, “Applied sciences”, “Mathematics”, “Biomedical”, “Foreign languages”, “Human sciences” and “Data science and AI”.
The School has about 960 students, 85 teachers and 24 school staff members.
For several years, the Liceo B. Rescigno has taken part in international project activities – both as a part of the Erasmus +/Comenius cooperation, but also in bilateral programs together with schools in Spain, France, Croatia, Denmark ,Sweden, Portugal and others. We also take part in the previous project called “Meet 4T” and so we are really concerned about this topic. Exchange programs are today – and have been for almost 20 years – an important part of our school profile and are often an integrated part of the teaching courses. Teachers and students are used to working together with people coming from other countries, and this has allowed our students to have new experiences and to learn extra abilities, which are not so easily achievable through the ordinary school courses. Taking part of international projects also helps our students to mature and strengthen their educational development. Moreover, in the last years we have also started e-twinning projects in order to help students to develop the ‘eight’ key competences set out by the EU.
The members of the Erasmus + group are all teachers at our school.

The effects of climate change in the region of Campania, Italy are increasingly evident, with rising temperatures, excessive heat waves, and intensified rainfall leading to heightened hydrogeological instability and frequent flooding. To address this issue, it’ s crucial to prioritize sustainable land management practices, invest in robust infrastructure for flood control and drainage, promote community awareness and preparedness, and actively reduce greenhouse gas emissions through renewable energy adoption and conservation efforts.
The topic about CO2 emissions and eco-sustainability is very relevant in our school, and we have integrated it in all the subjects and in all classes because we think that it is very important for our students for their everyday lives and future.
In our school, each student has had to choose 2 goals this year and to produce pair-works and single works on them. We also have a new section called Environmental science to study more specifically how to preserve the environment and the effects of climate change on it. We are also in Chief in the green school net. We work with other schools in order to raise awareness of students and communities about environmental problems. We have a small greenhouse at school in which we study new eco- friendly techniques in agriculture. We furthermore have several partnerships, which help us achieve our educational goals and can also be helpful to make this project even more relevant.

  • The University of Salerno and The University of Naples– with several departments with which we cooperate.
  • A number of professors of these universities are part of our technical-scientific committee and they will get involved into the project.
  • Local primary and secondary schools – it will be relevant to invite or show the products to pupils, to get more relevance for the project.
The Municipality of Roccapiemonte- we collaborated on an important project; the construction of a high-tech greenhouse in an ancient Manor called Palazzo Marciano. The two projects could be linked because we will be producing foods in a sustainable way.
We have a group of 6 teachers who are part of our Erasmus team and 4 of them will be involved on the project. Most of these teachers have already had experiences with international cooperation from past projects. The teachers in the group cover many different subjects (Biology, English, French, Maths) and are of different ages and each of them use different teaching methods. We have especialy good experience helping students to write texts.
We strongly believe in this project and in its important issue. Our school has already eliminated plastic use at school thanks to a previous Erasmus project and now we are ready to start this new European project in order to help our students to open their minds and hearts and obtain European citizenship competences.
Our headmistress and the school board are very supportive of our involvement in this project and look forward to support its progress.
